Diversität im NMT
Im Rahmen der Optionsförderung hat sich das NMT der Verflechtung verschrieben - z.B. der Verflechtung unterschiedlicher künstlerischer Ausdrucksweisen, verschiedener Spezies, mit der Stadt und ihren Bewohner*innen. Ein weiterer Schwerpunkt der Verflechtung liegt auf dem Themenfeld Diversität.
Das Netzwerk hat eine klare Haltung: Es tritt für Kunstfreiheit in einer offenen, vielfältigen, gleichberechtigten und toleranten Gesellschaft ein. Es wendet sich gegen jede Form von Rassismus, Diskriminierung und gruppenbezogener Benachteiligung im Theater- und Literaturbetrieb, in Politik und Gesellschaft. Gleichzeitig besteht das Netzwerk zum ganz großen Teil aus weißen Künstler*innen, die auf Deutsch schreiben. Entsprechend hat es sich auf die Agenda gesetzt herauszufinden, wo eventuelle Exklusionsmechanismen wirken, wo es vielleicht blinde Flecken in der eigenen Haltung gibt und wie Personen angesprochen werden können, die bis jetzt im Netzwerk nicht vertreten sind.
Um langfristige Veränderungen anzustoßen, wird in Workshops und Einzelgesprächen im Leitungsteam intensiv am Thema Diversität gearbeitet, ebenso wird das Thema in den Produktionen und Workshops im Rahmen der Optionsförderung von Anfang an mitgedacht. Zum anderen ist mit der Reihe Expansions ein Format eingeführt worden, das explizit Künstler*innen einlädt, die neue Stimmen, Positionen und Erfahrungen einbringen. Im Jahr 2023 findet Expansions I statt.
Das Netzwerk versteht die Arbeit im Themenfeld Diversität als Lern- und Entwicklungsprozess. Das bedeutet auch, dass es noch viele offene Fragen gibt und nicht immer sofort Lösungen für Herausforderungen parat sind. Getragen wird es von der Überzeugung, dass es die einzig sinnvolle Art ist, weiterhin relevante Theatertexte schreiben zu können, wenn sich das Netzwerk diversifiziert und mehr Positionen, Identitäten und Sprachen vertreten sind, als dies bis jetzt der Fall ist.

Diversity at the NMT
As part of its “Optionsförderung”, the NMT is committed to interweaving - for example, interweaving different artistic expressions, different species, with the city and its inhabitants. Another focus of the interweaving is on the topic of diversity.
The network has a clear stance: it stands up for artistic freedom in an open, diverse, equal and tolerant society. It opposes all forms of racism, discrimination and group-related disadvantages in the theater and literature business, in politics and society. At the same time, the network consists largely of white artists who write in German. Accordingly, it has set itself the agenda to find out where possible mechanisms of exclusion are at work, where there may be blind spots in their own attitudes, and how people can be addressed who are not yet represented in the network.
In order to initiate long-term changes, the management team works intensively on the topic of diversity in workshops and individual discussions, and the topic is also considered from the very beginning in the productions and workshops within the framework of option funding. On the other hand, with the Expansions series, a format has been introduced that explicitly invites artists who bring in new voices, positions, and experiences. In 2023, Expansions I will take place.
The network understands the work in the field of diversity as a learning and development process. This also means that there are still many open questions and that solutions to challenges are not always immediately available. It is supported by the conviction that the only meaningful way to continue writing relevant theater texts is to diversify the network and to have more positions, identities and languages represented than is currently the case
